The leaders of the Singapore Prosperity Megachurch who fraudulently diverted millions of dollars need to repent, apologise and resign.
A Singapore Court has found that they diverted $50 million dollars in church funds.
The Bible is quite clear about the qualifications of overseers, in 1 Timothy 3: "... he must have a good reputation among outsiders, so that he does not fall into disgrace and the Devil’s trap." - 1 Timothy 3:7.
To state the obvious, one does not have a good reputation with outsiders if a secular court has found you guilty of misappropriating $50 million dollars.
Of course there can be forgiveness from God, but they should rightly serve time in jail. And their public ministry is over.
My prayer is for a miracle, that members of that church might turn to the Bible, see what God says, and that as a result that church might stop synchronistically mixing materialistic greed with the Christian gospel, and instead start preaching an authentic gospel focused on Christ's sin bearing work on the cross, the resurrection of Jesus and the life to come.
Do pray for the authentic Christians in Singapore, that they might hold out the powerful authentic word of Jesus in that city.
